Let's just not go back to Normal. Normal wasn't that great.
Normal was racism, misogony, misanthropy.
Normal was blind to inequities (and iniquities) of the law.
It was income inequality - vast fortunes for some, grinding poverty for others, and hamster wheel pursuit of the paycheck for most.
Normal was consumerism. Exploitation. Degradation of values by advertising, movies, video games, porn, and what now passes for "music".
Normal was pollution, corruption, waste, mismanagement.
Then covid called time out. Suddenly we had time to be still, to think. Covid gave us an opportunity to reassess our lives, our relationships, our values and habits.
Individually and collectively, we have the opportunity to come through "these challenging times" better than we went in.
If we will.
